to the Internet home of
Feather Oaks Bulldogs. We are an experienced and selective English
Bulldog fancier, located in central North Carolina, between Greensboro
and Raleigh. This site is our opportunity to share our philosophy,
pictures of our adults, and wonderful photos and comments from
"adoptive families" around the country. Please contact
us if you would like to know more about the breed or our lines,
or if you are interested in bringing a Bully into your life.
We will typically have just two litters in a year, depending on
many factors. Most importantly, our breeding decisions are based
on improving the health and conformation in our continuing lines.
Because we choose to breed so infrequently, our puppies get the

and human interaction they must
have for healthy social development. We have carefully selected
the small number of adults we breed based on soundness of health,
temperament, and conformation to the breed Standard, as well as
the underlying "spirit" that makes the Bulldog breed so
unique and magical.
Our philisophy is that a Bulldog who is bred and raised wisely and
responsibly will have the qualities to play in the yard, lay on
your lap, or stand in the show ring, and will be happy doing any
of the above. We are proud of our "kids" that are in show
rings around the country, but by the same token, we don't put show
conformation above health or temperament, and we are just as happy
for our pups to go to quality, loving pet homes.
If you are still learning about the Bulldog breed, we have a continuously-growing
compilation of information, resources, and links on our Breed Information
page. Also, we have some frequently asked questions there that represent
things we are often asked.
As we have refined our breeding decisions, we have begun to find
ourselves forming a "type" of our own preference. Certainly,
every "bulldogger" has their preferred colors, characteristics,
etc., and we have ours. Brindle & white and red & white
are our colors of choice, and as such tend to be the most common
colors in our puppies. We also breed toward the AKC size standard
of 50 lbs for males and 40 lbs for females... to some, this is smaller
than expected, since some non-show lines have been bred to a much
larger size, even topping 75 lbs. Solid frame and musculature are
also characteristics we have bred for, and our kids tend to be quite
athletic, when they are properly motivated to get up off the sofa.
Our lines also show a common beauty within their eyes; we have often
spotted one of ours, all grown up, by the depth of expression in
the eyes. Of course, this belies the quirky intelligence and pure
heart that we are so committed to in the breed. And that brings
us to the characteristic people seem most taken by. We strive for
playful, energetic, observant puppies who mature into adults with
the pure Bulldog personality: strong but sensitive, loving beyond
what most people consider a dog's limits, intelligent enough to
be faithful yet mischevious, and happiest when they are as much
a part of the family as anyone else, as well they should be.
